Exploring the Old City of Fuzhou and Experiencing Authentic Life | InterContinental Fuzhou

In just a few short years, I've visited Fuzhou three times. Looking through my Weibo posts about Fuzhou, I found some records from my visit last June. I remember that rainy day in Fuzhou when I carried an umbrella along Zhongshan Road searching for Yeshan historical sites. Turning from a corner, I saw ancient banyan trees. Walking up the street, the atmosphere grew quieter and somewhat eerie until I came across Renshou Hall, Sa Zhenbing's residence in his later years, now a dilapidated building. 1. My first stop in Fuzhou this time was the Shimao InterContinental Fuzhou. I had a simple Cantonese dim sum lunch at the hotel's Chinese restaurant, Fu Di, which offered authentic Guangzhou flavors. Fuzhou people love tea, and the tea culture here has a long history. In this city, Cantonese dim sum is quite popular among locals. Fu Di restaurant expertly presents both Cantonese and Fujian cuisines with refinement and authenticity, making it an excellent spot for tea and dim sum. 2. If you have the chance to stay on the executive floor and visit the lounge, you'll surely be "startled" by the lounge manager's enthusiasm. She always maintains a warm and cheerful demeanor, ready to help solve any problems you might have. I also had an embarrassing moment here - one day after happy hour, I accidentally knocked over a wine glass when getting up, spilling the remaining red wine on the carpet. 3. In the Executive Lounge, the hotel has introduced a "Teddy Cloud Afternoon Tea" theme. From the 33rd floor, you can enjoy panoramic views of Taijiang District while savoring fine wines, coffee, and exquisite desserts - some shaped like lipsticks that you can "indulge in" (eat up). English afternoon tea is served in the lobby lounge on the first floor. 4. The hotel's all-day dining restaurant, Bloom, offers seafood-rich lunch and dinner buffets - as Fuzhou locals know, seafood is not to be missed. There are also various delicious Chinese stir-fries and authentic Fujian dishes, catering to visitors' tastes. 5. (Shimao InterContinental Fuzhou - All-day Dining Restaurant Bloom) The best dessert I had on Fuzhou's streets was taro paste, which was deliciously sweet. However, I had most of my meals at the hotel's Chinese restaurant Fu Di. Besides the Cantonese dim sum I had one day, I also enjoyed many of the restaurant's classic and signature dishes. The shredded tofu soup, traditional salt-baked chicken, and fresh peppercorn stir-fried prawns were all excellent. 6. I loved my Executive Deluxe Room where I stayed for two nights and three days. The extensive use of mirror elements made the room appear very spacious. The room atmosphere was cozy with elegant decorative style. My favorite feature was the bathroom's linear layout with floor-to-ceiling windows, making it bright and spacious. Both the bathroom and bedroom offered expansive views of Taijiang District. On clear days, looking at Fuzhou's skyline through the floor-to-ceiling windows gave me the feeling of being in the clouds.
