Morning, Relaxing at Kissaten The start of my Fukuoka trip was **‘Kissaten (喫茶店)’ full of local emotions**. A cup of coffee under old wooden furniture, analog music, and soft lighting… • Ordered: Toast set + hand drip coffee • The bread was warm and thick, and the buttery aroma was really rich. • The sight of the Japanese elderly people sitting next to me slowly drinking coffee while reading the newspaper was really impressive. ⏰ If you want to spend a leisurely morning, I highly recommend Kissaten! ⸻ 2. Dazaifu Tenmangu – One Wish, One Heart After that, take the subway + Nishitetsu train to Dazaifu! From the entrance, you will be warmly welcomed by the taiyaki shops, mochi shops, and souvenir shops. • Dazaifu Tenmangu is a shrine dedicated to the god of learning, Sugawara no Michizane. • I tried writing my own wish on a wooden board (ema) and bought a pink plum-patterned charm (omamori) 🌸 • Be sure to take pictures on the stone bridge and the red bridge over the pond! It’s a great way to get the perfect shot.📸 🛍️ Also, be sure to try **Umegae Mochi (Plum Rice Cake)** at the nearby shopping area. I was amazed by the warm and chewy taste. ⸻ 3. Sukiyaki at ‘Nikuichi’ for lunch 🍲 After returning to downtown Fukuoka from Dazaifu, I had a late lunch at Nikuichi (肉いち)! • I ordered a sukiyaki set meal, and the meat was soft and the soup was sweet and savory! • The combination of soy sauce and sugar was just like Japanese sukiyaki itself, and the traditional way of dipping it in raw egg was also unique and delicious. The price was reasonable, and it was easy to eat alone, so it was perfect for travelers.
