Hakata's Sacred Tapestry Unveiled: Journey

#2024wish In the heart of Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, lies the enchanting Kushida-jinja Shrine. A sacred haven where the vibrancy of Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival culminates, adorned with ornate floats displayed throughout the year, except June. Affectionately known as "O-Kushida-san" by locals, it stands as Hakata's guardian, venerating deities such as Daibosatsu-no-Mikoto (Kushida-gu), Amaterasu Omikami (Omiya-gu), and Susanoo-no-Mikoto (Gion-gu). Steeped in ancient history, it's the oldest patron deity in Hakata, with roots tracing back to the 8th century. Amidst the sacred air, my unforgettable trip immersed me in the rich tapestry of traditions. In 2024, I wish to go there again.
