Shikanoshima Island: a place of nature and history

Shikanoshima is an island located in the northern part of Hakata Bay. Although it is an island, it is connected to the mainland of Kyushu and is easily accessible by train and bus from JR Hakata Station in about an hour, or by boat in about 30 minutes from Hakata Pier. I cycled to the pier and then took the boat from there. The island is about 10km in circumference, so you can tour many spots in one day by rental bicycle or other means.
