Two touristy and easily walkable caves can be found in the cliffs along Enoshima's southern coast. On the last holiday of the consecutive holidays, I decided to go shopping in Fujisawa with my wife, and when I said, "If I go to Fujisawa, I want to eat delicious ramen," my wife searched for a ramen shop. So, today's lunch ramen goes to "La Juku" in Fujisawa City. Apparently, this shop is of Minoru Sano's genealogy. The number of shops for Minoru Sano's apprentices for soy sauce ramen has increased considerably recently. It is said that there are quite a few lines, so we arrived at around 13:30 with a staggered time. The store is closed at 14:00, but it is full. However, I went to the store without waiting too much. My wife ordered soy sauce wonton noodles, and I ordered salt ramen. First of all, soup. It has a gentle taste that feels like chicken oil, and you can feel the richness. The soy sauce ramen also tastes like the Chinese noodles. The noodles are homemade thin noodles straight. It's delicious with the soup. HAKONE TO SHINJUKU Our travel agent booked this approx. 1 hr 40 min ride from Hakone to Shinjuku (Tokyo) on the Romancecar. It's not a Shinkansen -- and not romantic in the least -- more of a squeaky rickety train with carpeted floor and poor ventilation. The station in Hakone had a couple of stores and food places where you could grab a snack, use the WC, buy gifts or buy lunch to-go, etc. Impressively, a team of cleaners were standing on the platform so they could hop on board and cleanbefore we boarded -- love the clean aspect of Japan! ON BOARD EXPERIENCE Luggage can be placed on the racks above your seat or behind the back seat in the carriage. (I recommend carry-on size throughout Japan for ease of travel). There are coat hooks, blinds to pull down for the sun, reclining seats and a server conveniently comes by with a cart selling drinks and snacks. There are no plugs for charging, so make sure you're fully charged before you get on board. Announcements are in English and Japanese. NICE VIEWS Our carriage had a variety of snorers, sneezers, coughing hackers, nose-pickers and food smells, so I can't say it was the best of our train experiences in Japan, but it was clean, on time and got us where we wanted to go. We visited as we wanted to get to the top of the island and also go to the caves and this was on the way up so we had a good look around. It is a lovely walk from Enoshima across a bridge that is around 1/2 km. We had a great view of Mt. Fuji on our journey and the lovely beach as well. Once you reach the island then the hiking begins. This is not for anyone who has health issues that may prevent them from walking up many, many flights of stairs. We purchased passes for the escalator system that will allow you to skip the difficult part of the hike but be aware that there is still many more flights of stairs to conquer to reach the destination. It is very beautiful and well worth the work to reach it. Not too many crowds on a weekday. The view from the top is breathtaking with Mt. Fuji looming in the distance and sea hawks flying all around (beware if you are eating outdoors as they do prey on tourists and locals alike and will steal your food from you and possibly injure you). This station attracts many anime fans as it is featured in the opening scene of the anime **Slam Dunk**. ⛩️ Third Stop: Enoshima Shrine - Climb Enoshima and Enjoy the Unbeatable Ocean View After arriving at Enoshima Station, walk about 15 minutes to enter Enoshima. This small island is home to the historic Enoshima Shrine, which primarily enshrines Benzaiten, the goddess of the sea and love. It is said that praying for love here is particularly effective. The path to the shrine involves climbing many steps, but if you prefer not to walk too much, you can take the Enoshima Escalator (for a fee). Inside the shrine, you can buy various amulets, such as love amulets and fortune amulets, which are especially popular among young visitors. From the high points of Enoshima, you can overlook the entire Sagami Bay.
