At night, the lights on both sides of the Tuojiang River sparkle beautifully. You can also take a cruise at night to enjoy the scenery. 🔺 Miao Stilted Houses: The bluestone roads and stilted houses give a strong Jiangnan flavor, even more beautiful with the misty rain~ 🔺 Nanhua Bridge: The highest point in the ancient town. Take a taxi or ride a shared bike to navigate there, not far~ All the sausages are freshly cooked and very flavorful. 📍 Jixin Noodle Shop: Also in the urban area, an old noodle shop in Phoenix. The noodles are cooked very soft! 📍 Jinye Noodle Shop: Next to the scenic area entrance "Nanhua Gate," catering to tourists' tastes with rich sausage flavor. 📍 Qinma Beef Old Brand Restaurant: The beef is freshly sliced and super tender~ Their hot pot dipping sauce is a highlight, fragrant, spicy, and extremely delicious! A bit far from the scenic area but easy to park at the door. Popular with locals, perfect for self-driving! 📍 Guxiangli Private Kitchen: Located in the downstream homestay area, very close to the Phoenix Impression Show! After the show, we randomly picked this place with family and found the taste very authentic! The owner’s previous shop was under Nanhua Bridge, frequently visited by Mr. Huang Yongyu. Prices are very reasonable, with local flavors! 📍 Tianyuan Restaurant: The sign says Changsha cuisine, but I feel it’s different from Changsha dishes. A must for local family gatherings, authentic taste and generous portions. 📍 Grandma’s Pickled Vegetables: Hidden in the alleys of the ancient town, this cold dish accompanied my entire school years. For authentic Western Hunan pickles, this is the place~ Also great mixed and cooked, you must try the ham sausage! (Flavor is salty and spicy, ask for milder if preferred) 📍 Changhua Big Mouth: A versatile small shop gathering fried skewers, noodles, wooden bucket rice, and spicy hot pot. Highly recommend their sour and spicy rice noodles/shao noodles, very refreshing. 📍 Douhua Mama: The tofu pudding is mild in flavor with rich toppings, perfect for cooling down in summer! 📍 Rice Tofu: Buying this is really about luck. But I’ve seen sisters get it with continuous good reviews~ Spicy food lovers will definitely like it, the best rice tofu recipe, no doubt. 📍 Teppanyaki Squid: Different from other teppanyaki squid, it’s stir-fried with a secret sauce. Flavorful and crispy, absolutely delicious with onions. 📍 Sister Tang’s Handmade Sweet Rice Dumplings: Recommended by friends on social media, the dumplings are handmade by an auntie, with various sizes, hot or cold, and different fillings. Opens a new world of rice dumplings! 📍 Handmade Mianbao: This is really super delicious! Phoenix’s unique handmade mung bean bread topped with fresh spicy vegetables, every bite is full of ingredients. 04 About Transportation 🚄 High-speed Rail: Take high-speed rail/train to Phoenix Ancient Town Station. After exiting, you can take a shuttle bus (7 yuan/person, half price for students) directly to the scenic area. ✈️ Airplane: Fly to Tongren Fenghuang Airport, then take the airport shuttle bus directly to Phoenix Ancient Town. 🚗 Self-driving: Navigate directly to the parking lots near the ancient town 🅿️ 40 yuan/day.
