[2025 Trip to Fengdu] Fengdu Is More Than Just a Ghost City—There's Also the Xueyu Cave

🍄 When people mention Fengdu, they often think of the Ghost City. Thanks to a cruise itinerary, I was given a ticket to the Xueyu Cave, and that's how I learned about this place. 🌼 Xueyu Cave, named "China's Most Beautiful Tourist Cave" by *Chinese National Geography*, was discovered by local farmers in 1994 and officially opened to tourists in 2001. It's a relatively new attraction. However, its formation dates back 460 million years to the Ordovician period. It is a karst cave formed by geological movements over hundreds of millions of years in the rare ancient marine sedimentary layer of the Three Gorges area of the Yangtze River. 🍄 I have visited karst caves in Guilin, Guangxi, and Jiangle, Sanming since I was a child, but Fengdu Xueyu Cave is unique. In my opinion, the most impressive thing is that many of the stalactites here are within easy reach. They are so close that you can feel their shape and moisture, which makes me feel excited to encounter something from 460 million years ago. 🌸 In addition, most of the stalactites in Xueyu Cave are "as white as jade," which is where its name comes from. There are also soda straws and calcite crystal clusters. I don't know much about them, but they look a lot like enoki mushrooms. The "King of Stone Flags" is a very thin, white stalactite. The "Snow Jade Penguin" is also a white penguin; from another angle, it looks like a big dumpling. It's quite vivid. It's worth a visit if you have time. 🎃 By the way, there is a section of the road from the parking lot to the entrance of Xueyu Cave where wild macaques may appear.
