Let me recommend an amazing little island near Wuhan - Liangzi Island. We've already been there three times, and we truly love it. Starting from Wuhan, head straight to Changling Tourist Wharf (in Ezhou), then take a boat to the island. The round trip costs only 80 yuan. If you visit the island on a weekday, it's absolutely perfect - there's no one around, it's incredibly quiet, and super healing. The wind on the island is strong, and the summer heat is instantly blown away. Standing by the lake feels just like being on a seaside island. The most beautiful time is at sunset. I strongly recommend staying overnight on the island. There are plenty of good hotels now. This is truly an excellent choice for a trip around Wuhan, both niche and fun.
