1. A whiskey distillery named Diechuan, invested and built by the world's second-largest spirits group, Pernod Ricard. Visits require an appointment and are guided by a brand ambassador. 2. Outside the reception hall, there is a triangular water feature: a fractal structure called 'Infinite Landscape.' The pool contains four large stainless steel stones, with another 12 scattered throughout the tour area. If you find all of them, the guide will give you a special gift, but I only found 11. 3. Before the tour, you can browse the whiskey shop and have some coffee, but it's not cheap. From the reception hall, tasting room, and distillation workshop, you can see the Golden Summit of Emei Mountain. The location is excellent. When I visited, the Golden Summit was clearly visible, which was lucky since it had been rainy and foggy the previous two days. 4. The first stop is the indoor exhibition hall, which is thoughtfully designed, interesting, and stylish. The overview is projected onto an irregularly shaped artificial mountain, with everyone sitting around a fountain, creating an immersive ceremonial feel. 5. Entering the barley exhibition hall, you will smell the rich fragrance of malt, feeling surrounded by golden aromas. The brewing process is introduced in a simple and easy-to-understand manner, very friendly for beginners. 6. The oak barrel display area mainly introduces three different types of barrels, with a focus on single-ridge oak barrels from Changbai Mountain in China. These barrels impart a temple-like aroma of sandalwood and plum to the whiskey, which is the Chinese style that Diechuan pursues. 7. The circular tasting room is underground, the most impressive and ceremonial place. A circular water cascade falls from the sky into a round copper plate, resembling a giant pupil absorbing the essence of heaven and earth. It is said to also function as a sundial on sunny days. 8. The whiskey tasting is paired with Sichuan-style snacks, which are a bit greasy. I think it would be better to pair whiskey with something salty and dry, like lantern shadow beef or pickles.
