Edinburgh Short-trip Itinerary

#edinburghtrips My third visit to Edinburgh, finally experiencing this city in the height of summer. Unlike the previous two family trips, this time there were no tourist destinations on the itinerary. Instead, it was all about exploring beautiful spots saved in my favourites and aimlessly soaking up the sun. Throughout these four days, I couldn't help but marvel at how perfectly suited this city is for two people! 💙 🏠Accommodation: -Gleneagles Townhouse (The new W hotel, shaped like a 💩, and the hotel itself is rather like that too. For a proper hotel experience, stick with classics like Gleneagles.) 🥰Exploring: -Jupiter Artland (The wildly popular ‘Teletubbies House’ is actually an art installation. Charles Jencks' life mounds. If you're just after the Instagram shot, similar works are outside the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art! But the whole artland is an artistic forest – a bit out of the way but well worth it!) - Scottish Parliament Building (Enric Miralles' classic work, a rare example of modern abstract style, absolutely worth seeing. Booking required) - Chapel of Saint Albert the Great (Though St Giles' Cathedral's ceiling is splendid, this lesser-known modern chapel near Edinburgh University is rather sophisticated—though finding the entrance took some effort). - Dundas House (The Royal Bank of Scotland conceals a breathtaking ceiling! It could easily be called Edinburgh's own Pantheon!). -Ross Fountain (While Edinburgh Castle itself may not be to everyone's taste, the small fountain nearby makes for an excellent photo spot.) -National Portrait Gallery of Scotland (The atrium ceiling truly feels like stepping back into an Egyptian temple!) -Ingleby Gallery (Undisputedly Scotland's premier private gallery. Compared to the more experimental Fruitmarket Gallery, this offers a more accessible and visually pleasing experience.) 🐷 Food & Drink: 🍴 Dining (Trendy spots like Tipo and Noto are part of the same group, with LYLA being the standout. If unavailable, their sister restaurants are decent but only 80% of the mark. For kitchen table-style, try Eòrna next to the wildly popular Lanna bakery – stylish, though Fukuoka's bread remains superior. As for Chinese food, aside from My Home Noodles, nothing else is worth eating. For Asian palates, Bariuma is also an option!) ☕️Drinks (This trip covered nearly every renowned spot in town. Ranking: LOWDOWN > The Source > Fortitude Coffee > Ante )
