En-route from Parapat to Medan there is not much in terms of tourist attraction points unless you like endless rubber and palm oil plantations. Just to have an excuse to stretch your legs you may consider a stop at Vihara Avalokitsvara with the Statue of Dewi Kwan Im in Siantar. It is a bit of a quiet place, good for walking around a bit. Reportedly, the Statue is the highest in SE-Asia and from that point of view worthwhile a visit. A beautiful and peaceful Kwan Im statue in the small town of Siantar. Different with common temple which is crowded , this temple is child friendly, even though you are not there for praying, the temple always open door welcoming you.
