Day Trips Around Chengdu: Easy-on-the-Legs Colorful Forest Secret Spots

Hello everyone, I am 1️⃣Chongzhou Jinfeng Mountain (p1-3) 📍Chechangping, Chongzhou (Late October to mid-November) As one of the colorful forest secret spots closest to Chengdu, the entrance is immediately surrounded by layers of autumn colors. Red, yellow, and orange intertwine, with colors as rich as a painting. The route is very accessible; you can easily stroll for 2 hours to enjoy the scenery or challenge yourself with a 10-kilometer loop. 2️⃣Chongzhou Wenjing Bridge (p4-6) 📍Mengtang Chanyue Shanlin Yusu, Chongzhou (Mid to late November) Drive directly to the colorful forest area. The hike is zero difficulty, suitable for the whole family to walk and enjoy the views. There's no loop trail, so it's recommended to return the same way. The route is short, so it's not worth a special trip just for this; it's suitable to combine with Yuantong Ancient Town and Huaiyuan Ancient Town for a combined trip. 3️⃣Dujiangyan Tongmagou Bamboo Sea Park (p7-9) 📍Tongmagou Bamboo Sea Park, Dujiangyan (Mid-November) Features bamboo forests, streams, and colorful forests. Follow the main road to the end of the paved road for the most beautiful colorful forest views. After that, it becomes a dirt road, so it's recommended to turn back. The round trip is about 7 kilometers, taking 3 hours at a leisurely pace. 4️⃣Dujiangyan Tianxin Driving School (p10-12) 📍Tianxin Driving School Training Base, Dujiangyan (Mid-November) An abandoned road with no cars, accompanied by fallen plane tree leaves and a small stream. Great for photos and picnics. The section is not long and can be visited together with the nearby Tongmagou Bamboo Sea Park. 5️⃣Wenchuan Laoya Mountain (p13-15) 📍Laoya Mountain, Wenchuan (Late October to mid-November) With an elevation of about 2000 meters, there's no high-altitude sickness. You can hike about 5 kilometers along the winding mountain road or take a local shuttle bus up the mountain. Traverse three meadows, sharing the frame with colorful forests, cloud seas, cattle, and horses, offering a magnificent view. 6️⃣Wolong Gengda Songlinwan (p16-18) 📍Gengda Lamasery (Late October to mid-November) After parking at the foot of the mountain, you can take a local shuttle bus to the Lamasery. You can pick fruits on the way up, or hike down from the temple, collecting pine cones, picking mushrooms, and gathering leaves in the pine forest. The walk and play take about 3 hours and are full of fun.
