Dujiangyan

Dujiangyan, located in the west of Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is situated on the Minjiang River in the western part of the Chengdu Plain. It is a vast engineering system composed of the headwork hub (Fish Mouth, Flying Sand Weir, and Bottle Neck), various levels of irrigation channels in the irrigation area, various engineering structures, and large, medium, and small reservoirs and ponds. The headwork covers an area of over 200 acres. It is responsible for the irrigation of over 11.3 million mu of farmland in 40 counties (cities, districts) in 7 cities (regions) in the central and western Sichuan Basin, water supply for many key enterprises and urban living in Chengdu, as well as flood control, power generation, water transportation, aquaculture, forestry, tourism, environmental protection, and other multi-objective comprehensive services. It is an irreplaceable water conservancy infrastructure for the economic development of Sichuan Province.
