Onofrio's Fountain in Dubrovnik, Croatia

#Overseas Travel When you enter the ancient city of Dubrovnik from the city gate Vrata od Pila, you will immediately see this huge ancient fountain called the Velika Onofrijeva fontana. Built in 1438 by the Neapolitan architect Onofrio della, the fountain is a low, squat, polygonal stone structure with a domed roof, from which water flows out of 16 sculptures of human faces. This was the water coming out of the water diversion facility at that time, supplying water to the small town.
