Dubrovnik, formerly known as 'Ragusa'. It is a port city in the southeast of Croatia and the largest tourist center. Located on the limestone peninsula in the southern part of the scenic and pleasant Dalmatian coast. Nestled between mountains and sea, with lush forests, it is an ancient city with a medieval atmosphere. During the Middle Ages, Dubrovnik was the center of the Republic of Ragusa and played an important role as a transit point in trade between the Adriatic Sea and the East and West. In 1979, Dubrovnik was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
