Why is Dongyang Lu's House known as the Folk Forbidden City?

The Lu Residence in Dongyang, Jinhua, Zhejiang, is a must-visit place for ancient building enthusiasts. Its halls and pavilions widely use Dongyang traditional wood carving techniques such as deep relief, shallow relief, hollow carving and round carving. 🔥Baogai Soluolian Sanju Colorful Spike Sheep Horn Lamp This lantern was made in the 7th year of the Republic of China (1918). The whole lantern is 4.05 meters high, 2.1 meters in diameter, weighs 127.5 kilograms, and is made of about 400,000 glass beads. 🦁Nine lions playing ball and three beams It is carved from a whole piece of camphor wood over 1.7 meters tall and is 1.5 meters tall. Ancient artists used deep relief, openwork and round carving techniques to carve lions with both form and spirit, which is the pinnacle of Dongyang's traditional architectural wood carvings.
