Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine in Fukuoka Prefecture enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, known as the god of learning, and is the head shrine of all Tenmangu shrines in Japan, along with Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Kyoto. The current main shrine was rebuilt in 1591 by Kobayakawa Takakage, and in early spring, 6,000 cute, colorful plum blossoms bloom in full bloom.
