⛩️Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is located in Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It was built in memory of Sugawara no Michizane. Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine was built in 919 AD, which is more than 1,100 years ago. Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine 📗Sugawara Michizane was a scholar and politician in the Heian period. Sugawara Michizane was framed by his political enemies and demoted to Dazaifu, where he died in 903. After his death, the locals built a shrine in his memory and revered him as the god of learning because of his talent. 🌸Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is also a famous place for viewing plum blossoms Legend of Flying Plum: Legend has it that when Doshin was exiled, a plum tree in the courtyard missed its owner and flew from Kyoto to Dazaifu overnight, and was called "Flying Plum". The "Flying Plum" at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine still exists today, blooming in early spring every year and becoming one of the symbols of the shrine. 📝Note tips: It happened to be the first major renovation in 124 years, so the main hall is now closed and not open. The priests' rituals were also held on a separate platform outside.
