Daxi is an hour and a half train ride or an hour car ride from Ximending Street in Taipei City. This is a town of Beigoma, with a historic district built in a unified style influenced by Victorian style by the zaibatsu during the Japanese colonial period, and a beautiful bridge that you can cross on foot. A friend took me there by car. The historic district is a brick street with gray stone facades with delicate carvings featuring various Feng Shui animals. There are streets where you can enjoy Taiwanese sweets and snacks! There were also stalls selling darts and quoits on the side of the temple in the center. The town is very photogenic and cute, and I enjoyed it even in the light rain. I recommend that you just go in and look at the alleys you find! From simple civic life to stylish renovated bars, surprises await you ^_^ Here are some delicious restaurants. There is only one main street, so it's easy to find ^_^ Try copying and pasting the name or address into the map and searching. ⭕️ Daxi Fu Ren Temple (No. 100, Heping Rd, Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan 335) A breathtaking temple with red lanterns. It has one of the few public toilets in the city. Be careful, there is no toilet paper. There was a darts and quoits stall outside this gate. ⭕️ Daxi Bridge (No. 273, Section 1, Rui'an Rd, Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan 335) A must-see bridge with beautiful carvings and coloring. It was built during the Japanese colonial period. The stairs leading down here also had a top object on the handrail, which was photogenic. It's free (as is the elevator). Incidentally, in the square above here, the townspeople play a game of throwing tops into a bottle to land them, which is worth a look! ⭕️ Yueliang Bite (No. 126, Heping Rd, Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan 335) A shop that serves delicious thick crepes like pancakes. I recommend the peanut butter one. ⭕️ Daxi Miscellaneous Goods Store (No. 120, Heping Rd, Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan 335) A souvenir shop. They sell cheap snacks and funny magnets. I bought the magnet in the photo here because I liked the funny Chinese characters. ⭕️ Daxi Hong Kong Style Dim Sum (No. 19, Lane 88, Denglong Rd, Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan 335) A restaurant serving Hong Kong cuisine. The shrimp shumai and shark fin shumai in the photo are from here. They were affordable and authentic. The chicken claws and chicken mushroom soup were so delicious that you could tell they were full of collagen ^_^ I couldn't find any free parking spots in the city, even on rainy days, so I recommend parking outside the city. Daxi Bridgehead Motor Car Station (335 Taiwan, Taoyuan City, Daxi District) has the best walking access to the historic district, and Yue Mei Parking (335 Taiwan, Taoyuan City, Daxi District, 335) is the second best.
