As the title says, I went to the border between North Korea and China! Dandong is a city in the northeastern region of China. I took the high-speed train (Shinkansen) from Dalian to visit this place. 🚄 As soon as I got off the train, I saw SWAT and soldiers from the police, so it had the atmosphere I expected, but in reality it has the image of a laid-back tourist city. There were no Japanese people, let alone young Chinese people, and there were many older Chinese tour groups. The border bridge is relatively close from the station and can be reached by bus or on foot. You can easily purchase tickets (20 yuan) at the ticket counter on the bridge without having to show your passport. Of course, you can also get tickets online on Trip.com! You can take a photo of North Korea and China at the same time from the bridge, so be sure to go there. There are many souvenir shops around the bridge. There are some around the station, but I recommend buying them near the bridge, which has a wide variety of souvenirs◎ My schedule was to visit the bridge → buy souvenirs → eat at a North Korean restaurant. It took just under three hours. It was worth the trip!
