The mighty bakery that elevates the name of a city, Seongsimdang.

Have you ever wondered how a bakery can have an annual revenue of USD 100 million per year, just by selling breads and confectioneries in a mid-tier city, not the capital? Well, Seongsimdang has done it with a record revenue of USD 100 million plus in the year 2023!!! The story of this bread shop begins in 1953 when the founder was traveling back to Seoul via train after the Korean War, but broke down in Daejeon. When he asked for help in a Church, the priest gave him 2 packets of flour. As such, he began his business by selling red bean buns, then decided to venture into the bakery business. This bakery is the most famous in all of Korea, and you literally have to queue to enter the bread shop. The variety of bread gives you the urge to buy everything there, as they look so attractive. This shop has a principle to donate all leftover bread to the poor and needy, and in cases where there are not enough leftover breads for distribution, the bakery will make a new batch to keep up with the numbers for distribution. We tried the bread at home and it tasted heavenly, especially the fried Soboro bun, which is the best that I have had. It only costs 1700 won per piece which is very cheap. I will definitely come back again if I visit Daejeon one day.
