The Palacio de Viana, a Renaissance palace, is composed of 12 unique and distinctive botanical courtyards, also known as the 'Courtyard Museum'. This was the first spot I checked in at Cordoba. Upon entering the first courtyard, a huge palm tree stands in the middle, with robust and stylistically shaped cycads evenly placed in front of the white walls surrounding the courtyard. The archway columns are uniformly cream yellow; the second-floor balcony irregularly hangs down bougainvillea and plumbago, setting the tone right from the start. The deeper into the courtyards you go, the more lush and dense the vegetation becomes, with a sense of hierarchy. Bougainvillea, plumbago, agapanthus, and orange trees (orange trees are also the most common botanical symbol throughout Andalusia) are the most common courtyard plants in Cordoba at this time, very beautiful.
