Very big zoo in Germany 🇩🇪

#summerdestinations Visiting the Cologne Zoological Garden was an incredible experience that I won't forget anytime soon! 🦁 Located in the vibrant city of Cologne, Germany, this zoo has been around since 1860 and is one of the oldest in the country. The entrance fee is quite fair at €21.50 for adults and €11 for kids, which I think is worth every cent for a full day of animal encounters and entertainment. As soon as I entered, I was captivated by the lush greenery and the spacious enclosures that give the animals plenty of room to roam. One of the first stops was the elephant park, one of the largest in Europe. Watching these gentle giants interact was mesmerizing, especially seeing the baby elephants playfully splash around in the water. 🐘 The zoo is home to over 10,000 animals from around 850 species, so there's always something exciting around every corner. From the agile orangutans swinging through the trees to the playful sea lions putting on a show, it’s a paradise for animal lovers. 🦍 I also loved the Aquarium, which is included in the entrance fee. It offers a fascinating look at marine life, reptiles, and even some insects. 🐠 Another highlight was the hippo enclosure, which has an underwater viewing area that lets you see these massive creatures swimming – an experience that's both surreal and humbling. The zoo does a great job with educational programs, and there were numerous interactive displays and talks about wildlife conservation. After spending hours exploring, I took a break at one of the cozy cafes inside the zoo. The food was decent, and it was nice to sit down and watch the world go by.
