Mona Vale Gardens | A traditional Victorian estate, with the Avon River running through it, and the affluent area's villas along the riverbank look particularly beautiful against the backdrop of autumn colors. Built in the early 20th century by a British merchant as a private estate, it features a typical traditional Victorian courtyard, imbued with a strong British romantic ambiance. The Avon River meanders through, and in summer, the gardens are a riot of flowers, as if walking in the fantastical world of 'Alice in Wonderland'. In 1993, Christchurch was awarded the title of the world's number one Garden City, and Mona Vale Gardens is a classic representation of Christchurch's gardens.
