Chongqing Family Hiking｜Fengdu Jiabi Mountain Small Loop, a 5-hour Nature Classroom Full of Fun

Parents, take note! We just finished the Fengdu Jiabi Mountain small loop with the kids. The 11-kilometer route is friendly to children’s stamina but doesn’t compromise the experience at all. Along the way, we passed through forests, meadows, and windmill hills. The kids collected pine cones and observed wildflowers, fully immersed in nature! 📍 Navigation setting: Fengdu Xinhechang Village Committee, about 3-4 hours driving from the main city. There is a spacious parking area in front of the village committee, and the starting point is right after getting off the car, perfect for families traveling light with kids. ⛰️ Family Route Details ✅ The small loop is about 11 kilometers long with a total ascent of about 500 meters, suitable for children aged 5 and above. We took our 7-year-old, walking and playing along the way, spending 5 hours in total. We had lunch on the meadow and enjoyed the mountain breeze, keeping a relaxed and easy pace. ✅ Road conditions: 80% are dirt roads and forest trails, with some steep slopes requiring parental assistance. It’s recommended to wear durable long pants to prevent scratches. The path is clear in sunny weather but be cautious after rain. Hiking boots and trekking poles are family essentials, and bring an extra jacket for wind protection. 🌿 The scenery here is incredibly rich! Kids see different vegetation at different altitudes, and from the summit, you can overlook the windmill group and distant mountains—truly a new view at every step. ⚠️ Must-know tips for hiking with kids 1️⃣ Mountain signal is unstable, so be sure to download the hiking track in advance. It’s recommended to team up with other families for mutual support and safety. 2️⃣ Bring enough water and healthy snacks like nuts, rice balls, oranges, etc., to replenish energy timely. 3️⃣ Teach kids to use tree trunks to slow down on downhill sections to develop safety awareness. Knee pads and gloves are a plus. 4️⃣ Bring trash bags and learn “Leave No Trace” outdoors with your kids, respecting the natural ecology. The moment standing on the summit, the kid spreading arms to embrace the mountain breeze was so heartwarming. This kind of family hiking not only exercises the body but also offers a full natural education!
