Chongqing in the heat, but what a trip! ☀️

Day 1: Explored People’s Auditorium, hunted for cute souvenirs at Daxigou antique market, escaped the sun at a nearby café, rode the Liziba train through a home, then wandered Shibati, tasted some local noodles there, and then strolled along Jiefangbei toward the incredible Raffles building 🏛️ Day 2: Strolled through Ciqikou Ancient Town, savored tea at Xiahaoli, captured photos at Longmenhao Old Street, explored Hongyadong, and ended the day with a scenic Two Rivers Cruise 🚤 Day 3: Hiked to Nan’an Shan Observation Deck, visited a nearby temple, snapped photos at Bell Tower, and cooled off with refreshing 冰粉 and coffee at Guanghuan Shopping Park 🍧☕ I recommend visiting Longmenhao Old Street and the Shibati area — such a lovely vibe! Also, strolling in the Nan’an area in the early evening was wonderful. I stayed at Wuyu Hotel and would highly recommend it. Although it’s a bit farther from downtown, it’s very quiet and clean, with a tasty breakfast, accommodating staff, and a variety of restaurants and cafés downstairs.

Chongqing Two Rivers Cruise

🌆 Sail into Chongqing’s Dazzling Night Magic with the Two Rivers Cruise 🚤✨ Ready for jaw-dropping city views? The Chongqing Two Rivers Cruise takes you on a glittering journey along the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, with skyscrapers ablaze in neon and historic bridges framing every snapshot. This is Chongqing’s nightlife at its most spectacular—don’t miss it! 🛳️ Route & Must-Dos: Start your adventure at Chaotianmen Wharf, just before sunset for the best golden hour lighting. Glide beneath illuminated bridges, catch sights of iconic landmarks like Hongya Cave and the Raffles City complex, and feel the pulse of riverside life. I highly recommend choosing an open-deck spot—nothing beats the breeze and unobstructed city panoramas. 📸 Insta-Worthy Angles: Snap panoramic cityscapes as you pass under Qiansimen and Dongshuimen bridges—their colorful lights reflect off the water for truly dreamy shots. For killer nighttime city lights, head to the upper deck near the bow. Tip: Use wide-angle mode and get creative with reflections! 🔎 Visiting Tips: Arrive early (before 8 PM) to secure a good seat by the railing and avoid the last-minute rush. Bring a light jacket—the river breeze can get surprisingly chilly, even in summer! If you love photos, bring a steady hand or mini tripod for night shots. ⚠️ Key Precautions: Ticket sales end at 9 PM; don’t risk showing up late. Watch your step on deck, especially when taking pictures—the boat can sway! For those prone to motion sickness, pack ginger candies or wristbands. #Chongqing #TwoRiversCruise #CityLights #NightTour #RiverAdventure

Ciqikou

Chongqing’s Timeless Old Town + Surprise Hilltop Serenity 🏮🌳 Stroll into the storybook lanes of Ciqikou, where centuries-old teahouses, vibrant lanterns, and bustling snack stalls dish out authentic flavors and nostalgia! Getting swept away in the crowds just means you’re in the heart of it all—but shhh, there’s a hidden tranquil spot waiting at the top. Must-dos: Start at the entrance and zigzag through the lively Cinan Street—sample spicy maocai, sugar twists, and Chongqing’s famed baked treats. Pause in front of folk art shops for lively photo ops (tip: lanterns and old doorways are super insta-worthy!). Climb towards the park at the summit: nearly silent compared to the main drag, it’s ideal for cooling off and catching your breath. Photo spots: Snap tasty street snacks with the backdrop of Ciqikou’s preserved architecture. Aim for the classic upward view from the alley steps, or shoot from the hilltop park overlooking the vintage rooftops—this spot is usually blissfully empty! Tips: Arrive before 10am if you want that relaxed, “old China” morning vibe. For the least crowds, head straight to the top park before browsing the shops. Wear comfy shoes (those stone alleyways get slippery!), and bring water—there’s surprisingly few spots to buy drinks up in the park. Precautions: The main shopping areas get packed, especially weekends. Guard your wallet and phone; pickpockets love busy lanes. Watch your step on rain-slick paths. #Chongqing #Ciqikou #StreetFood #TravelTips #HiddenGems

Shibati

Step into Chongqing’s Urban Maze at Shibati! 🏙️🏮 Welcome to Shibati, where old Chongqing unfolds in a jumble of twisting stairways, vintage facades, and hidden alleyways—perfect for urban explorers and history lovers alike. Feel the pulse of the city’s past as you climb shaded steps and discover remnants of everyday life tucked behind weathered doors. Recommended Route/Itinerary: Start at the base of Shibati (Shi Ba Ti, Yuzhong Qu) and ascend slowly—there’s no rush here. Navigate the tiers of stone steps lined with local cafés, noodle stalls, and humble convenience shops. Look for antique wooden balconies and original murals that reveal local stories. Must-Do Activities: Try street food from local vendors (think spicy noodles and sticky rice cakes) and pause at community courtyards to watch card games or impromptu chats among neighbors. Don’t miss the chance to peek into tiny teahouses hidden behind simple doors. Top Insta-Worthy Photo Spots: Snap the main stairway at dawn or dusk for cinematic light filtering through laundry and lanterns. Capture wide shots of old brickwork gradually blending into modern skyscrapers above—a tribute to Chongqing’s unique multilayered cityscape. Practical Visiting Tips: Wear sturdy shoes—the steps can be steep and the ground uneven. Avoid busy weekends if you want more quiet moments. Early mornings are best for fewer crowds and softer light. With easy access and open hours all day year-round, you’re free to roam as long as your legs allow! Key Precautions: Slippery steps in humid or rainy weather—take care and hold the rails. Some alleys are very narrow; keep an eye on your valuables in crowded areas. #Chongqing #Shibati #UrbanExploration #ChinaTravel #HistoricStreets
