The earliest humans, known as the Wushan people, appeared in Wushan County, Chongqing, as far back as the Paleolithic Age, 2 million years ago. During the Xia and Shang dynasties, the area was inhabited by the Baiyue people, and the Three Gorges region was a major producer of rock salt. The Ba culture flourished in the Wushan area during the Shang and Zhou dynasties. Chongqing, also known as the Mountain City and River City, is a national historical and cultural city, and the birthplace of Bayu culture. Located in the transition zone between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River plain, it is surrounded by mountains: the Daba Mountains to the north, the Wu Mountains to the east, and the Wuling Mountains to the southeast. Major rivers include the Yangtze, Jialing, Wu, and Fu Rivers. Chongqing is known for its "Ba Mountain Night Rain" and its nickname, "Fog City." The Ritz-Carlton is located in the riverside area at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. Situated in the upper floors of the Global Financial Center, the tallest landmark building in Yuzhong District, it is adjacent to Jiefangbei and a ten-minute walk from Hongya Cave. The hotel offers breathtaking river and city views. The rooms are comfortable and cozy, making it the perfect place to experience Chongqing's cityscape. Transportation is also very convenient, with a subway station located nearby. The breakfast and lounge are excellent. I have visited Chongqing several times before, exploring the Three Gorges, the Lesser Three Gorges, the White Emperor City in Fengjie, the Qutang Gorge, and Ciqikou Ancient Town. Back then, I walked from Chaotianmen Wharf to Jiefangbei Square. This time, Chongqing has changed dramatically, with significant changes in its topography. The original Chaotianmen now has the Raffles City complex. This time, I mainly visited the Hongya Cave folk culture area, took the subway and light rail to see the Liziba light rail passing through a building, and visited the Three Gorges Museum, also known as the Chongqing Museum. I had a wonderful time and will definitely return to Chongqing if I have the chance.
