Chongqing Weekend｜Take the Bitong Line to Tongliang for a one-day city walk

During my weekends, I always look up things to do in Chongqing and the Bitong Line was finally opened at the beginning of this year, providing a new idea for people who don’t drive but want to go out for fun. Today I’ll share a guide for a one-day city walk to Tongliang on the Bitong Line. Route planning: Tongliang West Station - Jidu Temple - (Yuanxiang Central Park/Xuantian Lake) - Tongliang Museum - Bachuan Catholic Church - Pedestrian Street - Wu Temple - Shaoyun Memorial Hall - Mingyue Temple - Tongliang People's Park - Longcheng Tianjie Station Attractions Jidu Temple: As soon as you exit the Tongliang West Station, you can see the pagoda with a very Southeast Asian style. Climb up the mountain and you can overlook the panoramic view of Tongliang city. Xuantian Lake: It is a great place to ride a bicycle. Almost everyone who goes there has a bicycle. There are many places to rent bicycles at the entrance for 10 yuan per bicycle with no time limit and no deposit is required. Yuanxiang Central Park: A large urban park. If you think Xuantian Lake is too far away, you can choose to come here. Catholic Church/Pedestrian Street/Martial Temple: European-style churches and ancient temples from the Ming and Qing dynasties in the old city. Lunch can be had near the pedestrian street. Tongliang Museum: One of the best county-level museums in Chongqing, where you can see the Ming Dynasty pottery figurines known as the "Little Terracotta Warriors". (Note that the museum is closed at noon, so you can go there for lunch and then go back in the afternoon.) Shaoyun Memorial Hall: Historical Education Base Tongliang People's Park: Located in the new urban area, it seems like a quiet oasis. The rippling lake in the park is like a mirror, reflecting the blue sky and white clouds, making people feel relaxed and happy. The weeping willows by the lake gently brush the water, as if adding a touch of vitality to this tranquil beauty. Useful Information 🚇Subway: Round trip subway fare: about 35 yuan (the fare is not accurate: the exit fare of the Bitong Line is displayed in the corner and is not clear, and the return trip exit fare of Line 1 is only displayed as more than 7 yuan) 🚊Line 1 and Bitong Line have transfers within the station. More than 85% of the passengers on the Bitong Line on the outbound journey are elderly people. It is not easy to get a seat and the whole carriage is quite noisy. 🍕Food: There are many snack vendors in the old pedestrian street. There are more sugar-coated fruits and Chongchong cakes than in Bishan, which is quite sentimental. There was also hot and sour noodles in the alley, which smelled good, but it was full and I didn't want to wait. I bought a portion of crispy cookies instead, which come in 4 flavors, and I recommend the sweet ones. In addition, you can also try "Bishan Rabbit" and "Laifeng Fish" and other delicacies in Bishan on the way back.
