Lights in the Night - Chongqing

Over the National Holiday, we took a trip to Chongqing. This was a city I’d wanted to visit for months. On the first night, we had lots of rain, but we still went to Hongyadong area to see it in the evening. For a rainy national holiday, the area was packed with people. if you’re claustrophobic it’s not a place to visit, also there are lots of steps. When we entered the commercial area, we had to queue before entering. The entrance brings you into the 6th floor of this area. The steps area is tight and narrow so it’s definitely worth noting. Once you reach the 2nd floor of this commercial area, you can venture out onto the street to come to the front of Hongyadong. For the best photo view, take the road to the bridge and cross the street. You can also catch a glimpse of Chongqing’s yellow taxi cab from up here. #chongqing #staycation #urbanexplorer #awesomepic #nightview #chinatrip #wintergetaway

✨Dazzling Nights at Hongya Cave: Chongqing’s Neon Wonderland🌃🛶 Hongya Cave lights up every evening, transforming into a mesmerizing riverside labyrinth that’s a feast for photographers, foodies, and night lovers. Imagine wandering ancient-style streets aglow with neon, overlooking the Jialing River’s sparkling reflections—perfect for soaking up Chongqing’s electrifying city spirit! 🗺️ Recommended Route: Enter from the upper Binjiang Road entrance; stroll down winding corridors packed with local snack stalls. Don’t miss heading towards the lower riverside platform for sweeping city and water views. Explore upwards through the terraced levels to see both the architectural details and peek inside quirky shops. 🔥 Must-Do Experiences: Taste spicy stinky tofu and skewers, browse for handmade souvenirs, and watch nighttime performances if you catch a pop-up show. Don’t forget to try Chongqing hotpot if you spot a riverside eatery—it’s an authentic city must! 📸 Top Insta-worthy Photo Spots: 1. Standing at the riverside entrance with neon-lit buildings behind you 2. Overlooking the illuminated cave layers from the public terrace—best after sunset 3. Lantern-lit stairways winding through the heart of Hongya Cave 🕒 Practical Tips & Precautions: - Aim for 7:30–9:30 pm for peak “lights in the night”—the colors are unreal! - Can get crowded; hold onto valuables and watch stairs (surprisingly narrow & slippery!) - Public bathrooms are available at Level 4 and Level 8—use them before it gets too busy - Metro Line 2 stops nearby; avoid driving due to traffic congestion #Chongqing #HongyaCave #NightLife #NeonCity #TravelTips

Hongya Cave

An Urban Adventure through Chongqing’s Iconic Spots 🏮🚡🍜 Get ready for a full sensory feast in Chongqing! From the neon-lit maze of Hongya Cave, the thrilling heights of the Yangtze River Cableway, to the historic charms of Ciqikou Ancient Town, this itinerary stitches together the city’s best vibes—perfect for foodies, photographers, and urban explorers. Start at Hongya Cave (No. 88, Binjiang Road, Jialing River, Yuzhong District), open 24/7, with its jaw-dropping stilted buildings and riverside glow. Must-do: wander every floor for local snacks and quirky shops; head to the 4F/5F terraces just before sunset for panoramic city and river shots (especially when neon signs flicker on!). Hop to the Yangtze River Cableway (No. 4 Shangxin Street, Nan'an District; 08:00–22:00, winter closes 1 hour earlier; ¥30) for a classic sky-high city crossing. Tip: Go earlier in the day or after 6PM to dodge the long lines. Don’t forget to snap photos through the cable car window—capturing the sprawling skyline and twisty river below is must-have Chongqing content. Wrap up at Ciqikou Ancient Town, where cobblestones lead you past tea houses, street food stalls (try the spicy tofu or maoxuewang!), and picturesque alleyways. Best photo ops in the quieter corners behind main streets, where locals sip tea and play mahjong. Efficiency hack: For time-saving, take metro Line 1 between spots. Bring cash for snacks—smaller vendors don’t always take digital payment. Hashtags: #Chongqing #UrbanAdventure #CaveToCable #AncientTown #TravelChina
