China Architecture Design & Research Group (CADG) brilliantly transformed an aging and damaged sports center into a strikingly modern new complex. Preserving the body of the main building, the architects removed the three-storey floor panels on the south side to create a high entrance space. They also extended the full-height foyer to the east, opening up a low ceiling that had previously created an oppressive feeling in the public space. Silver-white metal curtain walls cloak the main building’s façade, which consists of adaptable triangular and parallelogram-shaped sections. The steel truss rooftop is made from soundproof and heat-proof sandwich panels, forming two outstretched wings that unite the two buildings and leave space at the middle to create a visual corridor. #themepark#zoo#nationalpark#lakes
