Wat Saen Muang Ma Luang

Wat Saen Mueang Ma Luang or Wat Hua Khwang was originally called Wat Lakkhapurakamaram (the temple built by Phra Chao Saen Mueang Ma). Later, Phra Chao Mueang Kaew in 2063 renovated the Wat Hua Khwang pagoda to be larger than before. Phra Mueang Kaew and his mother, along with 3 groups of monks, with the royal teacher as the chairman, enshrined the relics in the great pagoda of Wat Lakkhapurakamaram. After that, the Tripitaka scriptures were created in the Hom Na Thian Tham. His Majesty ordered a grand celebration. In 2006, Phra Khru Plad Song Sawat Panya Wachiro, along with monks and novices, demolished the Hom Na Thian Tham and rebuilt it. The twelve-sided bell-shaped pagoda is a combination of Chiang Saen and Sukhothai art styles. During the Burmese invasion of Chiang Mai, the pagoda was partially damaged. Later, it was repaired, making the base from the three-tiered front board base up to the lotus pedestal a special feature that has never been seen in round pagodas. This pagoda was announced and registered in the Government Gazette, Volume 96, Part 167, dated September 25, 1979. Important religious objects include the main cement Buddha image in the chapel and a bronze Buddha image, 1.88 meters wide and 2.63 meters high. Some local people call it Phra Saen Muang Ma Luang.
