Wat Phalat (Sakidakami)

Since the time of the Lanna Kingdom, Wat Phalat was originally built during the reign of King Kue Na as a memorial to find a place to enshrine the Buddha's relics. According to the legend of the construction of the Doi Suthep pagoda, the elephant carrying the Buddha's relics traveled straight to Doi Oi Chang, west of the city. King Kue Na, along with Phraya Lithai from Sukhothai and his ministers, carried gongs and drums behind the elephants. When they reached the top of a mountain, the elephant stopped and knelt down.
