Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Ratchaworawihan

A Symbol of Faith and Culture in Chiang Mai ✨ Built in 1929 BE (approximately the early 14th century) by King Kuena, the 6th ruler of the Mangrai dynasty, who enshrined the sacred relics of the Buddha. ✨ Classified as a second-class royal temple (Ratchaworawihan) and registered as a national historical site. ✨ Located atop a mountain at an elevation of approximately 1,046 meters above sea level, which is about 689 meters higher than the Chiang Mai plains. ✨ Features a seven-headed Naga staircase with 306 steps, a popular spot for photography. ✨ Situated within Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, covering the area of Suthep Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai District. ✨ Open daily for visitors from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. 📍 Two options for visiting: 1. Walk up the 306-step Naga staircase (approximately 30 minutes). 2. Take the cable car (electric tram) for a fee of around 20 THB for Thais and 50 THB for foreigners, available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
