Luang Pho Khao, the legend of the creation of Chiang Mai

Phra Chao Aun Mueang Shrine (Luang Pho Khao) According to records, Wat Inthakhil is the place where King Mangrai was struck by lightning and died. As for Phra Chao Aun Mueang Shrine, it was probably built over the original foundation at the same time as the outer chedi covering the inner chedi around 2380 B.E. during the reign of King Kawila. It is a hall-shaped shrine with the original rectangular layout, with Luang Pho Khao enshrined as the principal Buddha image facing east. At present, the Inthakhil pillar has been invited to be enshrined at Wat Chedi Luang, and Chiang Mai has organized the annual Khan Dok offering tradition, which is another event that attracts the attention of both Thai and foreign tourists.
