Wat Sri Suphan, Chiang Mai

Wat Sri Suphan is located on Wualai Road, Hai Ya Sub-district, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. It was built in 2043. It is an ancient temple over 500 years old. It was originally called Wat Sri Suphan Aram and later called Wat Sri Suphan for short. Inside the temple, there is the first silver chapel in the world that the villagers built together to preserve the silverware of the Wualai community. It is also a famous silver handicraft community of Chiang Mai Province. Wat Sri Suphan is located within the foundry handicraft community. There is a study center for ancient Thai art, Sla Sip Mu Lanna, Wat Sri Suphan inside the temple. The silver chapel is in Lanna style and made of silver and tin by local silversmiths. Both inside and outside the chapel are decorated with silver handicrafts with graceful patterns. Inside, there is a principal Buddha image, which the villagers call Phra Chao Chet Tue, which is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, made of bronze, 3 sok wide and 4 sok high. There is a Lanna-style chapel built in 2342. This chapel was renovated by mixing in contemporary art. But still preserving the original, there are mural paintings about the 12 zodiac signs, the pagoda of Chiang Mai and the riddles of the three worlds. In addition, silver craftsmanship has been engraved with the patterns of the life of the Buddha, the Ten Lives of the Lord Buddha, and the Vessantara Jataka, which are decorated on the walls of the temple. In addition, within the area of ​​Wat Sri Suphan, there is a royal relic, a museum of the wisdom of the Sila Sip Mu, which is another beautiful temple in Chiang Mai Province.
