CHIANG DAO CAVE

Chiang Dao is a small village fifty miles north of Chiang Mai which remains essentially untouched by mass tourism. The main attraction in the area is the Chiang Dao Cave which runs through the base of Doi Chiang Dao, Thailand's third highest mountain with its impressive peaks. Entrance to the cave is 40baht. This fee gets you access to the primary sections of the cave which are lit and are easily accessible. These sections include a temple along with a reclining Buddah and a few other statues. For an additional fee of 200 baht you will be given access to the more extreme areas of the cave along with a local guide who will use a gas lamp to illuminate the surroundings with its eerie atmosphere and maybe you'll see some of the many bats that inhabit the cave. Personally I wouldn't travel just to see the cave in is own but if your passing by and you have time pop in and take a look.
