Lukang Tianhou Temple

The Tianhou Temple (New Ancestral Temple) was built in the 53rd year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1788) and is now a county-level historical site in Changhua County. The Xinzu Temple is the only Mazu temple in Taiwan that was built by imperial decree of Emperor Qianlong with government funds. It is also called the "Imperially Built Tianhou Temple" or the "New Tianhou Temple." Because it was built by the emperor's imperial decree, there is an inscription in front of the temple that reads "Civil and military officials dismount here." There are two Tianhou Temples here.
