Xingyun｜Thailand's Angkor Wat - Phanom Rung Temple on the top of a volcano

Prasat Phanom Rung is located on the top of Phang Rung Hill, a dormant volcano near the border of Uben Province in northeastern Thailand. It is the second most famous Khmer temple building in the northeast and I-san region. Prasat Phanom Rung is the largest relic left by the Cambodian Angkor Dynasty in Thailand and is known as the "Little Angkor of Thailand". Standing in front of the temple, you can see Cambodia in the distance, but because it has always been overshadowed by the halo of Cambodia's Angkor complex, few people know about the splendor here. In fact, Prasat Phanom Rung is an equally impressive stone temple built between the 10th and 13th centuries. It was originally a temple dedicated to the Indian god Siva. ☀ There are many corridors made of huge stones, which reflect the Khmer people's love for stone lattice windows during the Angkor Dynasty. From the easternmost archway, you can see through more than a dozen archways to the outside of the westernmost temple. I heard that on a certain day of the year, you can see the sunrise and sunset from the door openings at both ends~ 👀
