The Dubrovnik ancient city walls are like a miniature Great Wall of China

The Dubrovnik ancient city walls are defensive walls that were built around the old town. They have stood in the southern part of Croatia since the 7th century and are considered one of the greatest maritime defense systems of medieval Europe, never having been breached by an enemy. This miniature version of the Great Wall of China is only about 2 kilometers long and about 25 meters at its highest point, all built of granite. Standing on top, one can overlook the entire old town, with its red roofs encircled by the ancient walls, and the strikingly blue Adriatic Sea shimmering as far as the eye can see.
