Maits Rest Rainforest Walk is a stunning and ecologically significant rainforest trail located in Great Otway National Park, not far from Apollo Bay and along the famous Great Ocean Road. Trail Details: This is a short loop trail approximately 800 meters long, taking about 20-30 minutes to complete. Most of the path consists of boardwalks, making it easy and safe to navigate. It is suitable for all ages, including elderly visitors and young children. Atmosphere: Visitors can immerse themselves in the lush environment of a temperate rainforest, featuring ancient trees such as towering Mountain Ash and centuries-old Myrtle Beech. Highlights: Along the trail, you'll encounter dense moss and fern-covered trees, as well as sprawling roots that evoke a prehistoric forest ambiance. Additionally, during dusk, there’s a chance to spot glowing glow worms. Important Information: - Entry to the trail is free. - Convenient parking is available, but there are no restroom facilities. - Dogs are not allowed on the trail.
