Fisherman's Bastion: A Scenic Spot by the Danube in Budapest

Fisherman's Bastion (Halászbástya) is a viewing terrace in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style, located on Castle Hill on the Buda side of the Danube River in Budapest, Hungary, near Matthias Church. It was built between 1895 and 1902, and the architect was Frigyes Schulek. During World War II, the Fisherman's Bastion was almost destroyed. Between 1947 and 1948, Frigyes Schulek's son, János Schulek, was responsible for the restoration work.
