[Bhaktapur] Nepal: A medieval city where tradition and everyday life intersect

Located approximately 13km east of Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, Bhaktapur is a historic city that retains strong traces of its medieval past. Once a thriving capital of the Malla dynasty, this city still thrives today, with its cobblestone streets, brick houses, and beautiful temples, creating an atmosphere where time seems to have stood still. Its beautiful streets have been nicknamed a "living museum" and it has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the center of town is Bhaktapur Durbar Square, one of Nepal's three major squares, where you can see the remains of the royal palace, magnificent temples, and beautifully decorated wooden architecture. Particularly famous is Nyatapola Temple. Its five-story pagoda, standing approximately 30m high, is one of the tallest in Nepal, and its imposing appearance from the square is a spectacular sight. Pottery is also thriving here, and you can watch artisans knead clay by hand and turn potter's wheels to create pottery. Bhaktapur is also famous as the birthplace of the rich and smooth "Juju Dhau (King's Yogurt)." This traditional yogurt, beloved by locals, is a sweet treat to soothe your travel fatigue. It was so delicious I ate two! [Admission Fee (Foreign Tourists)] Approximately 1,500 Nepalese rupees (approximately 11-12 USD) Tickets can be purchased at the town entrance. Valid for one day. [Opening Hours] The town itself is open all day, but museums and some facilities are open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
