The first stop when arriving in Beppu is JR Beppu Station. This time we are going to visit the national designated scenic spot - Beppu Hell Hot Springs. Transportation guide: Take the Sonic Express from #Fukuoka #JRHakata Station, the journey takes about 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a highway bus from Fukuoka Hakata Bus Station or Tenjin Bus Station to Beppu, which takes about 2 hours and 40 minutes. From Beppu Station, take bus No. 2, 5, 7, 24, or 41 and get off at Kannawa Onsen Station or Umijigoku-mae Station in about 20 minutes. There are five hell hot springs near this station. Alternatively, you can take bus 16, 16A, 26, or 26A from Beppu Station to visit the Blood Pond Hell and Tornado Hell first, then take the bus back to the Sea Hell and visit the reverse route. You can also purchase the "Kamenoi Bus One-Day Ticket" to visit the seven major hell hot springs. In the Beppu Hell Onsen town, there is curling hot spring mist everywhere, thick white smoke comes out of the sewer outlets, and you can faintly smell the smell of sulfur. We took the bus to the first hot spring pool, "Umi Hell", which is said to have been formed by the eruption of Mt. Tsurumi 1,300 years ago. The beautiful and mysterious cobalt blue water makes it hard to imagine being in hell. At first glance, the pool water looks cold, but the temperature of the spring water is as high as 98 degrees and the depth is 200 meters. It has also been selected as a national scenic spot in Japan. Then walk to "#Onishibouzu Hell", where the spherical bubbles gushing out of the boiling gray hot mud at the bottom of the pool look like a monk's head. The hot springs in the "Onishi no Yu" attached to the park have many benefits for tourists to bathe in. Then walk to "#灶鬼灣", from 1-chome to 6-chome, there are 6 hot springs with different characteristics, like a miniature of each hell. Walk to "#鬼山鬼鬼灣", also known as "#crocodile灣", where many crocodiles are raised. It is the first place in Japan to use the heat of hot springs to raise crocodiles. Can you imagine that the temperature of the spring water is as high as 99 degrees? Then walk to White Pond Hell, the atmosphere is beautiful and quiet, and the courtyard-style park design is its biggest feature. If you still have energy, return to the Tielun Bus Terminal and take Bus No. 16 to reach the last two hell hot springs - "#BloodPondHell" and "#TornadoHell". These two hells are also worth seeing. Blood Pond Hell is known as the oldest natural hell in Japan. The spring water rich in iron oxide and the boiling red hot mud are full of power. The specialties are hell pudding and blood pond ointment. Tornado Hell is a #geyser. There are geysers in other parts of the world, but Tornado Hell is characterized by a short eruption cycle, erupting about once every 30 to 40 minutes. There is a roof on the fountain, but without it, the fountain would spray more than 30 meters high. It takes a whole day to visit the seven hell hot springs in Beppu.
