A Journey Through Belgrade

Visiting Belgrade was an adventure into a city full of contrasts, where history and modern life meet at every corner. I started at Kalemegdan Fortress, overlooking the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers – the views were stunning and the atmosphere carried centuries of stories. Walking down Knez Mihailova Street, I enjoyed the vibrant mix of shops, cafés, and street life that gave the city its unique energy. The bohemian quarter of Skadarlija was another highlight, with cobbled streets and traditional restaurants where music and laughter filled the air. I also visited St. Sava Temple, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, whose size and architecture left a deep impression. In contrast, the Brutalist buildings around New Belgrade showed another face of the city’s character. What stood out most to me was Belgrade’s spirit – lively, welcoming, and full of resilience.
