Three-Hundred-Year-Old Serbian Orthodox Church

Hram Svetog Oca Nikolaja, also known as the Church of St. Nicholas, is one of the oldest and most important Serbian Orthodox churches in Belgrade. Located in the Zemun district, this church was originally built between 1745 and 1752 on the foundations of an early 16th-century wooden church. The church has witnessed many historical events, including the expulsion of the Turks in the early 18th century and the arrival of the Austrians. For centuries, it has been the spiritual center of the local Serbian community. The architectural style of Hram Svetog Oca Nikolaja is a beautiful blend of Baroque and traditional Serbian church elements. The church features a prominent bell tower and an ornate facade. The interior is decorated with stunning frescoes and a finely carved iconostasis created by renowned artists of the time. Stained glass windows and intricate wood carvings further enhance the church's aesthetic appeal, making it a notable architectural landmark in Belgrade.
