When Kenneth Branagh’s film of the same name as the capital city in Northern Ireland hit the big screen in 2022, it was described as a realistic portrayal of the life and struggles of the troubles in 1960’s and 1970’s Belfast. But it was also a love letter to a city that has a big heart. Fast forward 50 years, and Belfast is now a bustling, exciting metropolis that must be on your list of cities to visit. The bars and pubs are second to none, with live music bouncing off the walls. Culture and character is embodied in almost every corner of Belfast, and I fell in love with the city the first time I visited. The people are friendly and have a real pride in the place they call home. Put aside any preconceptions or negative impressions that you may have about Belfast.
