Mula Patisserie in Batam Center is hands down one of the most stylish and delightful cafés I’ve been to in Batam. From the moment you step in, the aesthetic catches your eye — minimalistic, soft tones, and a warm, cosy vibe that makes it perfect for brunch, dessert dates, or just relaxing with friends. It’s very Instagrammable too, with clean setups and good lighting. The desserts are where Mula really shines. I tried their mochi cheesecake, sweet potato brûlée, and the Basque chocolate cheesecake — all incredibly rich, soft, and full of flavour. The textures are balanced, not overly sweet, and each dessert has its own unique twist. Prices range around 40K–45K IDR, which is really reasonable for the portion and quality you get. One of my favourites was the pistachio kunafa — crunchy, creamy, and not easy to find elsewhere in Batam. They also serve soft, fluffy bread and light meals, so it’s not just desserts. The drinks menu includes decent coffee and matcha options. It’s mostly self-service, but the staff are friendly and will guide you to seats when it gets busy. Even during off-peak hours, this place can get a little crowded, a sign that it’s popular with both locals and tourists. Only downside — they use plastic cutlery and disposable cups, which feels out of place in such a classy setting. Hopefully, they’ll switch to proper utensils in future. A few areas of the café interior could use a refresh, but it doesn’t take away too much from the experience. Overall, I’d rate Mula Patisserie a solid 4.5/5. Delicious desserts, beautiful setting, and good value for money.
