Mediterranean Coast Tour of Spain ~ Barcelona (Region) It was built on the site of the Trinity Monastery located in the center of La Rambla. The opera house was expanded to accommodate all the activities required by Liceu. In 1845, Miquel Garriga i Roca ordered the construction, and the entire project was completed in 1847. In 1861, a fire destroyed the auditorium and stage, but Josep Oriol Mestres rebuilt the auditorium, this time without the second-floor amphitheater. The original facade was renovated in 1875. The theater was rebuilt again, preserving the parts unaffected by the fire and reconstructing the auditorium as it was.
