Bánkút, the hikers' paradise

Bankut is a ski resort located in the eastern part of the Bükk Plateau (Bükk National Park), which is located below the fourth highest point of the mountain range, Bálvány (956 m). There's a look-out tower on Bálvány. There isn't much snow in the winter these days, so it's more of a hiking center these days. There is a White Eagle Guesthouse and restaurant there. The nearby spring was not working due to drought. You can get free drinking water in the restaurant or there are other springs nearby but the best if you are prepared accordingly. You should have proper clothes for hiking including hat due to UV radiation, plenty of water, food and insect repellent against mosquitoes and ticks. Public bus goes there on weekends or tourist bus on weekdays from Miskolc city. #city #hiking #hikingtrails #forest #nationalpark
