Bangkok Architecture Walk 🚶‍♂️ MOCA (Bangkok Museum of Contemporary Art) The exterior is a white exterior wall with only a few diamond-shaped windows. Next to the entrance is a pond with a white monument designed with lotus flowers. The geometric landscape resonates with the building, and is the work of designer Wannaporn Pornprapa, who studied landscape at Harvard after graduating from Thailand's prestigious Chulalongkorn University. The pure white lobby connected to the eaves that protrude like a plate gives a hint of art, and a lone bronze statue stands out. The high-ceilinged lobby conveys the scale of the building, and the diamond-shaped skylight seen far above casts a geometric shadow on the white wall. The interior is white just like the exterior. The common areas, with escalators and large staircases lined up side by side, are repeated in the same position on each floor, making the clear traffic flow plan easy to understand even for first-time visitors. Starting from the common areas, walking around each floor, you will find easy-to-understand contemporary art works lined up at a moderate density. The rectangular room has a lighted ceiling, and the black-painted ceiling can be seen through the huge see-through louvers. The rational interior is reminiscent of the exterior. The floors are red and black to break the monotony of all-white, and there are also accents here and there, such as a reproduction of an ancient Thai building, and a long painting placed in an open void. Taking the escalators one after another, we approach the top. When we reach the top, the skylight is, as expected, white and modest. First-class architecture, first-class exhibition content, second-class location, and moderate prices. The building was built by the president of dtac, one of the major mobile phone carriers in the Kingdom of Thailand, with his own money, and the works of the best contemporary Thai artists that he has collected are on display.
